101 Ways You Can Try Today to Grow Long & Healthy Hair:

  1. Give yourself at-home dry scalp massages to stimulate the blood flow to your scalp. Dry scalp message helps nutrients get to your hair follicles more quickly and as a result stimulate hair growth.
  2. Also, give yourself a wet hair massage by messaging the scalp with your fingertips while washing your hair. This trick has the same effect as dry scalp message but it’s not a perfect excuse to stay in the shower longer, J.
  3. Get your hair trimmed (well, we know you hate chopping off any length). But. Seriously. Do. The issue is, split ends can work their way up strands and as result damage your hair or make it even shorter.
  4. Taking vitamins, including the simple over-the-counter vitamins, every day is good for your hair. Vitamins contain vitamin B derivatives and antioxidant blends that help to increase hair strength.
  5. Condition your hair regularly. Washing your hair with a shampoo helps take all the dirt and grime out of your scalp and hair. However, a conditioner replenishes nutrients that you hair needs to be stronger, healthy and shiny.
  6. Where possible avoid (or use less frequently) the Heat Tools. That burnt hair smell your straightener creates should tell you a lot about what’s actually happening to your tresses. Use these tools less frequently and with products to shield your strands from harm.
  7. Douse your mane in cold water (cold water rinsing) before you step out of the shower to help seal your hair cuticles and prevent moisture loss. (Also read: which is better: Shower in hot or cold water?)
  8. Remember to always protect your hair from rain, sun and wind. Exposing your hair to excessive dirt, sun, pollution or heat may lead to increased susceptibility to infections, especially on the scalp.
  9. Steer clear of tight hair ties as they tend to pull your hair back real tight. Instead opt for scrunchies with cloth around them to help reduce friction and breakage.
  10. Loosely braid your hair when you go to bed at night to avoid a frizzy mess which will subject to lots of pulling and brushing in the morning. Besides, you don’t want brushing your hair in the morning to feel like a one-way trip to Nightmaretown.
  11. Pat dry your hair, do not rub. Rubbing dry your hair take shorter time, but tends to break a lot of hair.
  12. Oil the scalp frequently and use a gentle shampoo to do away with the oil. It’s good for your hair.
  13. Avoid teasing your hair. Teasing your hair (even if it creates a lot of volume) may ruin the texture of your hair.
  14. Improve the luster of your hair by brushing it effectively. Brushing spreads the natural oils through the length of your hair.
  15. Avoid plastic brushes as they increase breakage. Instead, go for metallic brushes
  16. Go slow on the number of products you use on your hair. Using too many products (especially bottled hair products) may harm your hair. Go for essentials like conditioners, shampoos and serum.
  17. Apply banana mash to treat your damaged and dry hair. Bananas are rich in potassium and thus can help in improving the elasticity and natural health of your hair.
  18. Ask your colorist about Olapex, especially when you are going in for a drastic color change.  Olapex treatment prevents breakage by acting as a barrier between your hair and the bleach.
  19. If you have to go for coloring, pick a dark one color. Dark colors put less strain on your hair and thus do the least damage to your hair.
  20. And, if the idea of going platinum blonde really fascinates you, then remember to regularly mask your hair in coconut oil to allow it seep as much hydration back into your hair as possible.
  21. Remember to apply bleach at the root to avoid permanent fly-aways  (as a result of breakages at the roots) when bleaching your hair.
  22. Drinking plenty of water helps to keep your body keep hydrated and thus maintain the body functioning at its best. As a result, it promotes hair growth.

  38. Use scalp exfoliation products to remove debris and dirt from your scalp to foster a better environment for hair growth.

  41. Avoid silicone-based products. Silicones prevent nutrients from getting into the hair shaft.
  42. As much as you might love them, remember alcohol-based and products high in fragrances aren’t great, either. Reason: they often dry out the scalp the hair you’re cleansing.
  43. And, if you want induce scent to your hair, look for products with natural oils instead of man-made alcohol-based fragrances.
  44. The amount of shampoo your hair needs depends on the type of product you are using and the type of hair. For instance, fine strands or short hair may need less of a formula than thick, super long hair.

  61. Sheet masks aren’t just for your hair (Especially the ones formulated with keratin and collagen). They are good for your hair.
  62. Learn to protect your hair from the sun’s harmful rays. Cover your hair to protect it from UV radiation. And remember to thank me later.
  63. Never straighten or curl wet or damp hair, the heat can penetrate the hair cuticle and wreak havoc.
  64. You can naturally treat dandruff by working tea tree oil through your scalp and rinsing it out. The strong anti-bacterial substances in the oil fight bacteria and whatever else that could be causing in the scalp.
